SJCG Achieves Designation as Best Practice Spotlight Organization

After a three-year journey, St. Joseph's Care Group is pleased to announce that we have achieved Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) designation from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO).

To receive designation as an RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization, SJCG implemented five Clinical Best Practice Guidelines (BPG) within a three-year period, these included:

  • Establishing Therapeutic Relationships
  • Care giving Strategies for Older Adults with Delirium, Dementia and Depression
  • Screening for Delirium, Dementia and Depression in Older Adults
  • Prevention of Falls and Fall Injuries in the Older Adult
  • Strategies to Support Self-Management in Chronic Conditions: Collaboration with Clients.

As well, St. Joseph's Care Group now has 108 trained Best Practice Champions who are advocates for change. They are also an integral part of implementing Best Practice Guidelines. Best Practice Champions include representation from a variety of healthcare professions.

This designation was achieved as a result of the incredible teams of staff including; Nursing Quality Practice Council (BPSO Steering Committee), Professional Advisory Council, BPG Working Groups, Best Practice Champions, Collaborative Practice Team, and SJCG's Leadership Team.

"St. Joseph's Care Group has long been committed to evidence-based best practices. The guidance and structure provided by the RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization program has helped formalize the work we do. As a result our healthcare professionals are using leading best practices to provide the best care possible for our clients." - Tracy Buckler, President & CEO St. Joseph's Care Group

"Achieving designation as a RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization is the culmination of three years of working in partnership to build a culture of evidence-based practice. We will continue in this journey to drive best practices forward through education, policy, and day-to-day practice changes to improve client-centred care and outcomes." - Shelley McAllister, Director of Collaborative Practice & Chief Nursing Executive St. Joseph's Care Group
