Depression is among the most common problems facing people today. Nearly one in four Canadians will have experienced depression in their lifetime. Symptoms may interfere with a person's ability to function in everyday life and affect their relationships and work or school performance. Anyone who is suffering from symptoms of depression requires understanding and support from others. By learning more about depression, we can help ourselves and our loved ones to better cope with it.
This six session psycho-educational course offers information about symptoms, causes and the various types of treatments for depression. Lectures, group discussions and exercises are designed for participants to learn from each other and additional resources are distributed. Participants are given education about depression so that they can make informed choices about treatment options available to them.
