Feeling Good Group
Course Description
Program: Personal Development Program
Length: Eight Sessions
Time: One and a half-hours once a week
Rationale
Cognitive therapy is based on the idea that it is mainly your thoughts and attitudes – and not external events that create your moods. Negative thoughts often lead to unhealthy emotions such as depression, anxiety, and irrational anger. When you learn to challenge your negative thinking and substitute with thoughts that are more positive and realistic, you can change the way you feel.
Objectives
This psychoeducational group uses a cognitive approach to help participants identify and learn to challenge thoughts that may be negatively affecting their moods, self-esteem, productivity, and joy in daily living. Utilizing lectures, self-monitoring, group discussion, and homework assignments, participants will learn a variety of skills and techniques to help modify negative patterns and gain insight into self-defeating beliefs and attitudes.
