Relationships Group
Course Description
Program: Personal Development Program
Length: Six Sessions
Time: One and half-hours once a week
Rationale
This course is offered because most of peoples' troubles and emotional and psychological turmoil stem from their difficulties in relating effectively and intimately to those who are significant to them. This course is also based on the belief that relating well to others is a learned skill and, as this skill is often modeled poorly in our culture, the opportunities to learn to relate well are not readily available.
Objectives
The course serves to educate participants and bring into consciousness those dynamics of psychological functioning that are usually operative when two people make contact with each other. The more one is aware of underlying dynamics of oneself, the other and the interaction of both persons involved, the more one is able to make changes (if one chooses to) towards the enhancement of the relationship.
The material covered in the course will relate to any significant relationship (partner, family, friend, co-worker) but emphasis will be place on those dynamics that usually occur between partners.
