Volunteer Opportunities

These are some of the opportunities available to St. Joseph's Care Group volunteers. Individuals who speak a second language, including French, Finnish, Italian, Ojibway, Cree, Oji-Cree, etc. are encouraged to apply.

Gift Shop Volunteer

Friendly Visitor

Provide an opportunity for socialization for clients, to increase their enjoyment and quality of life. If you speak a second language we can match you with a client who would love to speak their language.

Gift Shop Volunteer

Provide assistance to clients, family and visitors in selecting and making purchases

Hospital Elder Life Program (St. Joseph's Hospital)

To help prevent delirium and physical decline in seniors who are inpatients at St. Joseph's Hospital through Orientation, Activity, Meal Assistance and Mobilization

Mealtime Companion

Provide assistance to clients at meal times, under the supervision of staff and provide companionship and conversation to the client.

Nevada Booth Volunteer

Sell break-open Nevada tickets to support the fundraising efforts of the Auxiliary to St. Joseph's Care Group.


To porter residents using wheelchairs to Spiritual Care Services, Recreation programs, special events, appointments to hair salon, visit the gift shop, coffee shop or go on walks within the home or outdoor green spaces.

Recreation Assistant

To provide support and assist clients and staff with recreation activities and enhance their quality of life

Special Events Assistant

To assist with special events/services by transporting inpatient clients to/from events/services and by remaining with client during the event/service.

Spiritual Care Assistant

To provide support, escorting clients to and from Chapel services and to offer an opportunity for socialization and support to clients, and increase quality of life and enjoyment.
