Answers

1. How long will I stay in the hospital?

Your length of stay will depend upon your admission diagnosis. You may be admitted on a joint pathway which has a typical length of stay. Most patients will only require a short stay in the hospital. However, the length of stay depends upon your progress in therapy, your medical condition, and obtaining discharge goals.

2. How much therapy will I get?

In most cases, you will have daily therapy from Monday to Friday (except for statutory holidays). Your therapy depends upon goals and individual needs identified by you and your therapist.

3. What do I need to bring from home for my stay in the hospital?
  • A pair of walking shoes and rubber soled slippers.
  • 2-3 complete changes of comfortable clothing, such as shorts or jogging suits
  • Glasses or hearing aids
  • Toiletries such as comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, denture, skin lotion.
  • If you are from out of town, please bring your mobility equipment such as walker or crutches.
4. What will happen if I have a medical appointment or a test before release from the hospital (such as follow-up appointment with my surgeon or ultrasound)?

The staff will make transportation arrangements for you to attend such appointments. If you require an escort to go with you, please ask a family member or friend to go with you. We will send a staff member if medically indicated.

5. Who is going to take me home when I leave the hospital?

You will be informed of the estimated discharge date so that you can make arrangements for someone to pick you up on the day of discharge. If you require specific assistance, please indicate this to the staff.

6. What is the discharge time?

Discharge time is 11:00 a.m. on the day of your discharge.
