Answers
1. How long is the wait to get an apartment?
Wait times vary depending upon size of the unit and if support services are required. It is reasonable to estimate several years for someone to received a rental offer.
2. Will I get in faster if I have a doctor's note?
The market wait list is totally chronological - the date of application is the only criteria we use. The DSSAB (for the RGI units only) is chronological also but they do have exceptions. Should you require current information on their processes, please call (807) 766-2111.
3. Do I have to take support services?
At the time of your application, you will have the opportunity to indicate if you require support services. You will only receive an offer based on what you requested on the application.
4. My spouse lives in Bethammi - what can you do to help me?
Persons who have a spouse in Bethammi take priority on the wait list for a bachelor unit and would be offered the next available bachelor unit.
5. Can I move from one size apartment to another size or location?
No - the application asks you to pick one size unit only.
6. When I can no longer live independently, will I be able to move to Bethammi?
All long term care applications are handled by the Home and Community Care Support Services North West. While they will take into account your preference for Bethammi, it is not automatic that you would get a unit there.
