Eligibility & Selection (PR Cook Apartments)

Persons over the age of 60 or under the age of 60 with a disability , who can live independently with or without support services are eligible. Market (those who pay full rent) applications can be picked up at St. Joseph's Heritage at the front desk.

RGI (rent geared to income) applications are obtained from The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) located at 231 May St. S. The phone number there is 807.766.2111.

Selection of Tenants

The market wait list is maintained by PR Cook apartments chronologically (the date you apply is the date entered into the system).

The rent geared to income list is managed by The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB). It is generally maintained chronologically but exceptions can be made by TBDSSAB. Staff at PR Cook do not have input into the TBDSSAB wait list.

When an apartment becomes available, the applicant is contacted and an interview is arranged with the Housing Manager and the Manager of Support Services. This will determine if PR Cook apartments can meet the applicant's need for independent living.

Upon a successful interview, the move in date is usually within 30 days.
