Hogarth Riverview Manor
Notice: Visit our Precautions section for additional information when visiting one of our homes.
St. Joseph’s Care Group is an organization committed to resident-centred care. Your personal, cultural traditions, lifestyle and expressed needs are respected. We are committed to working with you, as a partner, to ensure that decisions about your care align with your values to the best extent possible.
Hogarth Riverview Manor is a long-term care home located on Lillie Street North in Thunder Bay. The original home opened in 2004 with 96 beds and was expanded to accommodate 544 residents. Hogarth Riverview Manor is currently licensed for 480 beds, making it one of the largest long-term care homes in Ontario.
We believe that decisions about your care are made with you, not for you. It is our belief that independence fosters a sense of well-being. For this reason, each resident is encouraged and assisted to attain the highest level of independence and self-care that is possible for him/her to achieve.
Each resident area is home to only 32 people. Residents can choose to enjoy the privacy of their own room or socialize with others in the common areas. Home areas each have their own dining area, living room/lounge area, activity room and spa room.
All residents at Hogarth Riverview Manor have their own room. Bathrooms are private or shared between two residents, depending on the type of accommodation.
Lounges are designed to accommodate quiet activities (e.g., reading, listening to music, watching television) and allow for relaxed social interaction among residents, families and visitors. Most activity/therapy programs will take place in designated spaces within the Resident Home Areas.
Residents, families and visitors have access to larger communal activity areas, both within the Resident Home Area and more central community spaces in the building to support a variety of special, large-group social functions.
The design of outdoor spaces surrounding the facility allow for safe enjoyment of the outdoors by residents, their families and community programs. The facility is designed to maximize the view of the outdoors from bedrooms, dining rooms and other activity areas wherever possible. Social, psychological and physical benefits to residents through the therapeutic use of indoor greenery and outdoor spaces are maximized.
The Link is an indoor walkway between Sister Leila Greco Apartments and Hogarth Riverview Manor and is home to Robin’s Donuts, Janzen’s Pharmacy, Auxiliary Gift Shop and Hair Salon.
