Important Information About Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

St. Joseph’s Care Group has implemented mandatory screening for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at all of our sites to keep clients, staff and volunteers safe and well. More information regarding visiting, screening, televisits and more can be found here.

There are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause illnesses. Take these everyday steps to reduce exposure to viruses and protect your health:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Sneeze and cough into your sleeve
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home if you are sick

We know that the comfort and support provided by family and friends during visits is important to the health and wellbeing of people in hospital and long-term care. The most important thing you can do to reduce the spread of infection and help keep them safe is to always wash your hands before and after your visit.

People in hospital and long-term care may have weakened immune systems, making them vulnerable to viruses and other contagious illnesses . We ask that you consider choosing not to visit if you have:

  • Cold
  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Outbreaks affecting St. Joseph’s Care Group and other facilities in Thunder Bay are published on the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s website.
