Mental Health & Substance Use: Building Capacity
One in five individuals in Canada will experience a mental health or substance issue in their life time. This means that 20% of the general population are living with these issues and these prevalence rates may be even higher for those experiencing other health concerns. As such, it is important that those working in health care develop a comfort level, confidence and capacity to understand and effectively engage clients/patients living with these complex health conditions.
This 8 part educational series has been specifically designed for those working in health care setting and provides an introduction into a wide range of topics to enhance knowledge and skills to more effectively engage with individuals and families who are living with mental health and/or substance issues. The sessions are not intended to provide comprehensive training but will increase staff knowledge and awareness as well as identify areas where additional education may be beneficial.
