Staff are Masking Up for Cold & Flu Season

Starting on Monday, October 21, 2024, we'll be adding masking precautions at St. Joseph's Care Group (SJCG) to help keep our clients safe during cold and flu season.

When clients are receiving care, staff will wear masks as a layer of protection against spreading cold and flu.

Clients and visitors are encouraged to wear masks, but are not required to do so.

All St. Joseph's Care Group sites continue to be "Mask Friendly." We want anyone who chooses to wear a mask to protect themselves or others to know that they are safe and supported. Masks and hand sanitizer will continue to be available at all staff and public entrances, as well as on inpatient units and in clinical areas.

Wearing a mask is just one of the ways we can stop the spread of preventable illness. As a gentle reminder, we ask everyone entering one of our sites to:

• Self-Screen for illness and symptoms before entering, and stay home when not feeling well.
• Consider alternative options for visiting your loved ones - many SJCG sites have free Tbaytel Wi-Fi throughout, and all client rooms in St. Joseph's Hospital have telephones.
• Clean your hands often.
• Maintain two metres (six feet) of physical distancing from all other clients/residents, staff and visitors.

Visiting Restrictions during an Outbreak

When an outbreak is announced in one of our program or resident home areas, general visiting is paused for that location. Caregivers can continue to visit during an outbreak with added precautions.
