The Broader Public Sector Accountability Act (Bill 122) received Royal Assent on December 8, 2010. The Act establishes new rules and higher accountability standards for hospitals. It will also increase organization transparency by bringing hospitals under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
St. Joseph's Care Group is included in the Broader Public Sector (BPS).

Expense Rules
The Broader Public Sector Accountability Act requires hospitals to publish expense rules on their website for expenses that are reimbursed from public funds. The expense rules apply to any person in the organization making an expense claim.

Expense Reports
In compliance with the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act, St. Joseph's Care Group will post expense claims made by the Board of Directors and Leadership Team twice a year. Expense reports show reimbursement made for travel, meal, and hospital expense claims approved within the reporting period. All approved expense claims comply with St. Joseph's Care Group's expense policy and procedure. Reports will be published on the website as follows:
- Reporting Period: April 1 to September 30 - Posted by November 30
- Reporting Period: October 1 to March 31 - Posted by May 31

Attestation of Consultant Use
The Government of Ontario has placed considerable emphasis on the manner in which Broader Public Sector (BPS) organizations engage consultants.
Hospitals are required to submit attestations indicating compliance with the following requirements of the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act (BPSAA):
- Compliance and accuracy of reporting the required use of consultants
- Compliance with the prohibition on engaging lobbyist service using public funds
- Compliance with expense claim directives
- Compliance with procurement directives
The reporting period the hospital is attesting to is April 1 to March 31. Attestations will be submitted on an annual basis and are due by June 30th each year and posted by August 30th.

Supply Chain Reporting
The Government of Canada passed the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (Bill S-211) on May 3, 2023, to protect vulnerable populations from human rights abuses and exploitation. The Bill has imposed annual reporting requirements on Canadian businesses which includes public sector healthcare organizations effective January 1, 2024.
