SJCG's Commitment to Excellence in Care: Best Practice Spotlight Organization

St. Joseph’s Care Group (SJCG) received Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO®) designation from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) in April 2018. This achievement highlights SJCG's dedication to fostering a culture of evidence-based practice throughout the organization

SJCG is dedicated to ensuring care and services are delivered based on the highest quality evidence-based practice and research. As part of our ongoing commitment to quality improvement and people-centered care, we have integrated the latest Best Practice Guidelines (BPG) into our clinical services.

We will continue to maintain our prestigious BPSO designation by fostering the capacity building of Best Practice Champions, implementing new BPG recommendations, disseminating knowledge, and evaluating client outcomes.

We are pleased to announce that for the 2024-2026 designation period, we are implementing two new Best Practice Guidelines: Professionalism and Transitions in Care. These guidelines aim to strengthen the professionalism of our staff and promote safe and effective transitions for clients/residents as they move across the continuum of care.

To date, the following Best Practice Guidelines have been successfully implemented:

  • Establishing Therapeutic Relationships
  • Strategies to Support Self-Management in Chronic Conditions: Collaboration with Clients
  • Screening for Delirium, Dementia and Depression in Older Adults
  • Caregiving Strategies for Older Adults with Delirium, Dementia and Depression
  • Prevention of Falls and Fall Injuries in the Older Adult
  • A Palliative Approach to Care in the Last 12 Months of Life
  • Developing and Sustaining Safe Effective Staffing and Workload Practices

Through these efforts, we remain committed to providing exceptional care and support, ensuring that every person receives the best possible experience at SJCG.

This work is part of the BPSO® designation program, funded by the Government of Ontario. For more information about the RNAO BPSO program, please visit RNAO.ca
