Protecting Our Clients and Residents during Respiratory Season
Date: 2025-10-09
At St. Joseph's Care Group, the health and safety of our clients, residents, visitors, and staff is our top priority. As respiratory illness season begins, we are taking steps to reduce the spread of illness while continuing to provide compassionate care.
What We Are Doing
Starting October 15, our staff will wear masks during point of care interactions - any time they are within close distance of a client or resident. This is one of the ways we protect our clients and residents, especially those most vulnerable to respiratory illnesses.
How You Can Help
You can also help keep everyone healthy:
- Stay home if you are feeling unwell, even with mild symptoms.
- Postpone visits if unwell until symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours and wear a mask for 10 days after symptom onset.
- Screen for symptoms before visiting.
- Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.
- Get vaccinated for flu and other recommended vaccines.
- Consider wearing a mask while visiting, especially if you are in close contact with clients, though it is not required.
During Outbreaks
If an outbreak occurs on a unit, masks will be required for all visitors while in that area. Signs will be posted at entrances to keep everyone informed of the current guidance, and masks will be provided.
By working together, we can help reduce the spread of respiratory illness. We thank our visitors, clients, and staff for supporting a healthy and safe environment for everyone.
