Visiting precautions may change at any time, without prior notice. If you are feeling unwell, please postpone your visit until feeling better.
Measles - Special Precautions
In ADDITION to your regular illness self-screening, please review these measles-specific precautions and DO NOT ENTER if the following applies to you: for illness listed below.
EXPOSURE
- If you have travelled to an area with high measles activity - Public Health Ontario - Measles Cases
- OR have been exposed to a measles case in the last 21 days - Public Health Ontario - Exposures
SYMPTOMS
- Cough
- Fever 37.8°C+ or Chills
- Rash
- Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
- Runny Nose or Nasal Congestion
NEXT STEPS
If you have symptoms, have travelled and/or been exposed to a measles case, please DO NOT VISIT. Please contact a healthcare provider or the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to determine the next steps to keep you and others safe.

Required Precautions
- Self-Screen for illness and symptoms before entering, stay home when aren't feeling well
- Clean your hands often
- Maintain two metres (six feet) of physical distancing from all other clients/residents, staff and visitors
- Masking is recommended for all visitors
Self-Screening
DO NOT ENTER if you are EXPERIENCING ANY NEW OR WORSENING SYMPTOMS, as listed below, which are not related to any known condition(s) you have.
ONE (1) or more of the following:
- Fever 37.8°C+ or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Gastrointestinal symptoms (such as vomiting or diarrhea)
TWO (2) or more of the following:
- Muscle aches or joint pain
- Extreme fatigue
- Headache
- Decreased or loss of smell or taste
- Sore Throat
- Shortness of breath
- Runny nose or nasal congestion
You are safe to enter when ALL of the following are true:
- No fever
- Symptoms have been improving for at least 24 hours (48 hours for gastrointestinal symptoms)
- No development of additional symptoms
Visiting Restrictions During an Outbreak
- General Visiting is paused in the location of the outbreak
- Caregivers can continue to visit during an outbreak and while the client/resident is self-isolating or symptomatic.

Outpatient Appointments
- Clients attending outpatient appointments can have one companion accompany them for appointments.
- Clients attending the Outpatient Palliative Care Clinic may have two companions.
- Companions must also self-screen for illness before entering the building.
Seniors' Supportive Housing
- Please follow the COVID-19 screening process at the apartment you are visiting.
